Think back for a moment to a time when you were suddenly struck by the wonder and beauty of this world that is our home.
Were you with family? Friends? Were you alone…? When the Great American Eclipse occurred on April 8, 2024, everyone
who saw it - whether man or woman, big or small, young or old - we all felt that unique experience, celebrating something rare and glorious.
We live in a time when more than ever we need to celebrate things that bring us together. Being an Astronomer, I hope you will join me in celebrating April 8th as a happy day, not of science or politics, but in reverence for the awesome beauty of the universe. I call it “Friendly Sun Day” in memory of the great American Eclipse.
I have designed special t-shirts and other garments to encourage my family and friends to commemorate April 8th with each other. But I hope this will go further. It can't just stop with me and my family. So, I have partnered with Ann Arbor Tees to make them available to you as well. It will be great if we can join on the web with photos of all of us celebrating life-long memories of a wonderful Springtime Day extending to the heavens above.
The shirt was designed by an actual Astronomer. He created the Friendly Sun cartoon to delight kids and amuse everybody.
He has also written a special poem on the back. The shirt sale is being extended after the eclipse for several months by popular demand!! Order yours soon while they remain available!!
For more information about the eclipse, we are still providing
the NASA map below. Also attached is a delightful video of the Astronomer’s fun T-shirt experiences in the earlier 2017 Total Solar Eclipse. The video is called “Revenge of the Nukes” because of surprise events!!
